Quartz Hill High School is proud to announce the details for our Drive Thru Senior Celebration and Virtual Celebrations. Graduating students will receive their diplomas, but ALL SENIORS are invited and will be celebrated! PLEASE SPREAD THIS WORD!
Monday June 8th 4pm-7pm for students with last name beginning with A-M
Tuesday June 9th 4pm-7pm for students with last name beginning with N-Z
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE TIMES MAY CHANGE DUE TO POSSIBLE CURFEW. WHEREVER YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE, CHECK ON SATURDAY 6:00PM TO SEE IF WE ARE THE ALTERNATE TIMES OF 12:30pm-3:30pm
ALL seniors and early graduates, along with any family members, who can legally fit into one vehicle.
Traffic pattern will come down east on Avenue L towards QHHS (be prepared for a line of cars. You can come down 70th, 80th or 90th). You will turn in to the marked driveway just past the baseball field and follow the path along the curb through the 300 quad, check in at a table by the 300 gate, and continue up to the long one-way drive thru that leads past the library. You will stop at the stage to receive your paperwork and get a picture taken, and continue along the one-way path and turn right out onto 60th St.
This drive thru celebration is to honor ALL STUDENTS in the class of 2020. Graduates will also get their diplomas during this time. Any student with an award will receive that award during this time as well. QHHS staff, who have missed our students greatly, will honor, cheer, and celebrate students as they drive through.
Here are the particulars. Please adhere to these guidelines strictly as county and state guidelines are clear. The vehicle must not be a bicycle, motorcycle, a convertible with the top open, or a vehicle with no doors such as a golf cart. Occupants must wear a face covering. Each senior may arrive with one vehicle (if you have siblings graduating, ie: twins, you may have one vehicle per senior). Vehicles can not park in parking spots. You will pull along the identified traffic pattern, check in (to determine if you get your diploma), and drive up to the stage to music, staff cheers, and hear your name read aloud! Once you drive through, you must leave the property, but leave loud! We encourage vehicles to be decorated and students to wear their caps and gowns!
What should you do to prepare for the Drive Thru Senior Celebration? Start by CHECKING OUT. You must check out to receive your diploma. Last senior checkout is Wednesday June 3rd 9am-2pm or Thursday June 4th 11am-1pm (this is a new time due to curfew). After that, contact Gary Pierson at email@example.com.
On celebration day, have your car decorated! Make it full of school spirit, make it fun, make it crazy. Wear your cap and gown! Decorate your cap! Honk your horn! Order yourself to have your senior friends behind or in front of you so you can honk for them! Drive safe, be safe, but have fun!
Virtual Senior Celebration:
There will be TWO Virtual Senior Celebrations! On June 4th at 9am, seniors will receive a link sent to their school email. This is the senior class produced Senior Celebration. We have traditionally shown this at a senior only assembly. Seniors will be able to preview this video until 4pm. At 4pm, the video link will be shared with everyone to be viewed publicly. We wanted to keep our senior video tradition alive and are very proud of the video our senior class produced.
On June 8th at 4pm (or 12:30 if the curfew alternate time is used), the parent-driven Virtual Senior Celebration presentation will be available. This labor of love will be able to be viewed while you wait in line or at home. This presentation will include the graduation speeches of all who typically speak at graduations. Thank you to you, the parents and students, for providing us the information needed for this presentation!!
