Our schools are provided with federal funding, we want to know what you think about the programs and services we offer to your student.

We want to know what you think about the programs and services we offer to your student.

Our schools are provided with federal funding (formally named Title 1) to help students who struggle in meeting challenging state standards or who have achievement gaps in their education. The primary purpose of this funding is to bridge the gap between low-income students and other students, however, ALL our students benefit from the programs associated with this funding. In addition, please know that you can reach out via email (zmercier@avhsd.org) or set up an appointment to discuss any program that we offer here at QHHS!

Please take 5 minutes to give us your feedback by clicking here before April 30, 2019.

AVUHSD Open Enrollment

Antelope Valley Union High School District Open Enrollment Happening Now - Deadline March 15, 2019

If you would like to attend a high school within the Antelope Valley Union High School District other than your school of residence, you will need to apply for "Open Enrollment" no later than Friday, March 15, 2019.

During the last week of February 2019, Open Enrollment application packets for the new 2019-20 school year were mailed to the homes of current eighth grade public school students, returning high school students, and to the principals of charter and private junior high schools. Application packets are also available at all local high schools, in the AVUHSD Student Services office located at 548 W. Lancaster Blvd. in Lancaster, and on the AVUHSD website at https://www.avdistrict.org/parents/open-enrollment .

Open Enrollment applications for the 2019-20 school year must be received by the deadline of Friday, March 15, 2019 in the Student Services office at 548 West Lancaster Boulevard, Suite #102, Lancaster, CA 93534-2571 (note that the office closes at 4:30pm). Applications may be submitted by mail, in person, or by fax to 661-949-6292. They may also be scanned and e-mailed to: rhickman@avhsd.org. According to Board Policy, late applications will not be accepted with the exception of students who have a sibling attending the school requested. However, late applications from students who moved into the area after the deadline may be considered based on available space. Result letters will be mailed in April 2019.

There will be a limited number of 2019-20 Open Enrollment spaces available at each high school: Antelope Valley, Eastside, Highland, Knight, Lancaster, Littlerock, Palmdale, and Quartz Hill High Schools. These include general Open Enrollment spaces as well as some spaces specific to particular academies: AVHS Engineering/Green Enterprise Academy, EHS Biomedical Sciences Academy, HHS Public Service Academy, KHS Digital Design & Engineering Academy, Lancaster HS Multimedia and Engineering Academy, Littlerock HS Agribusiness Academy, PHS Engineering Academy, and PHS Health Careers Academy. Also, qualified students entering 11th grade may apply for the QHHS International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Students interested in career academies must also submit a separate academy application through the Academy Coordinator at the requested school. According to California Education Code 35160.5, Open Enrollment approvals will be on a lottery basis (random selection—not first come, first served). In addition to these spaces, all qualified sibling Open Enrollment applications to all schools will be approved.
